GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Loss Prevention Investigator - Organized Retail Crime (ORC) is responsible for the analysis of Loss Prevention system data produced through various software/video systems to identify ORC losses and trends, possible fraud, procedural violations, and training opportunities. The Loss Prevention Investigator - ORC makes independent decisions and recommendations to the Organized Retail Crime (ORC) team and Field LP Managers based on an independent analysis of the investigation scope. This Investigator supports the ORC field team, reports to the Director, Loss Prevention- ORC and will interact with the Manager, Loss Prevention Investigations as needed. This role maintains, curates, and drives the creation of new ORC data bases and exception-based reporting to address changing business needs. The LP Investigator – ORC works collaboratively with other business partners to identify and rectify root causes of common store issues impacted by ORC. Provides insight, guidance and training to ORC Field Investigators as needed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

  1. Analyzes exception-based reporting (XBRi), organized retail crime linking model (Detective Analytics), remote video, truck GPS data, OSINT platforms, and burglar alarm exception reports for possible fraud, policy violations, and training opportunities
  2. Initiate, report and administer Organized Retail Crime (ORC ) investigations in loss prevention case management tool.
  3. Partner with field and supply chain, eCommerce and omni-channel loss prevention team to execute various external investigations including follow-up and resolution.
  4. Stay updated on nationwide ORC patterns and trends
  5. Generates case management system (LPMS) investigative files for personal handling, delegation to ORC and Field Loss Prevention team, and follow up
  6. Utilizes the Wicklander-Zulawski interview method (telephone/in-person) to conduct internal interviews (where necessary)
  7. Leverage vendor gift card software (Client Line) to investigate, track, and devalue fraudulent gift cards as a result of ORC investigation.
  8. Communicates ORC investigation findings to respective Loss Prevention, Human Resources, and Operations personnel for case resolution as directed by the Director, Loss Prevention - ORC
  9. Coordinate complex investigations, including those initiated through Legal, Guest Services and Social Media sources
  10. Collaborates with internal partners to assist with addressing process breakdowns that generate losses to the company
  11. Provide feedback and subject matter expertise on enterprise fraud issues
  12. Supports eCommerce Loss Prevention team with omni channel (BOPIS) investigations as it relates to ORC
  13. Execute investigative research escalations received from the executive leadership
  14. Identify new loss prevention and ORC case tools
  15. Participate and represent the company during various ORC meetings


Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Solid understanding of retail Loss Prevention exception-based reporting
  • Knowledge of Micros Retail POS, retail loyalty programs, remote video technology, and omni channel retail is required
  • Experience investigating/resolving complex retail fraud trends
  • Wicklander & Zulawski certification and CFI a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint to communicate information in concise, detailed and accurate fashion
  • Analytical report development skills necessary to interpret data and present it in digestible summary conclusion formats
  • Must be able to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize time sensitive deadlines
  • Must be able to conduct training sessions 1:1 and before groups

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office demands plus some nights and weekends
  • Must be able to travel regularly in-town and must be able to travel out-of-town occasionally to attend training sessions and industry conferences
