Summary of Job Duties: The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for supporting all department/clinic staff and providers who utilize the schedule for Perioperative Care Services procedural areas. Ensures the procedural schedules are managed according to policies and procedures in a manner that yields maximum utilization and accuracy. Perioperative Care Services Procedural Schedulers have an in-depth understanding of the operational areas in order to effectively meet the patient and provider needs. Highly focused on customer service and achievement of perioperative utilization metrics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment OR

  • High school graduate, GED, or formal education equivalent plus (7) seven years of training and/or experience in business office administration, customer service, or related work of which three years' experience is in patient registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare environment


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing case requests ensuring accuracy and the completion of all required pre-authorizations and clinical screenings prior to placing on the schedule.

  • Schedulers monitor requested times for alignment with case time averaging and scheduling policies/procedures.

  • Collaborates with procedural area leadership in determining appropriateness of placement and alignment with staffing and targeted rooms in operation at specified times.

  • Schedulers are integral players in ensuring all capacity, access and utilization targets are met resulting in achievement of budgetary/revenue expectations.

  • Schedulers will be assigned primary specialties and services they support while having the ability to meet the need for any service/specialty/department.

  • High level of skill and understanding of Epic Optime required.

  • Acts as the point of contact for procedural scheduling for all UAMS departments/clinics staff and providers.

  • Other duties as assigned
