Summary of Job Duties: The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Trauma Surgical Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (H4). This unit has a 24 bed capacity and cares for a variety of patients. Care for the trauma patient includes those who have had trauma related accidents, blunt or penetrating trauma, bone and joint injuries, spinal trauma, or traumatic brain injuries to name a few. Care for surgical patients includes those who have had solid organ transplants (liver and kidney), abdominal surgeries, and a variety of other surgical interventions that may require additional monitoring in an ICU.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.
• Valid RN License.
• 1 year of Registered Nursing direct patient care experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong work ethics and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• National Certification.
• BSN or MSN.
• 2 or more years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in an acute care setting such as a teaching hospital.
• Cardiac experience a plus.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

• The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care for patients in within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. 
• The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members. 
• Collects and documents assessment data.
• Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard. 
• Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach. 
• Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes. 
• Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning. 
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
