Summary of Job Duties: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides telephonic triage using clinical decision-making software, assists with patient consults and hospital transfers, and operates videoconferencing equipment to support telemedicine services. This role requires strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and communication skills. The RN will work within the scope of the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act and in alignment with UAMS policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, or higher
Current and valid RN license in the state of Arkansas
Minimum of five (5) years of RN experience in a clinical setting
Strong verbal communication skills, telephone etiquette, and basic computer proficiency
Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
Clinical experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
Critical Care or Emergency Department (ED)
Telephonic triage or telehealth
Hospital transfer coordination or case management
Labor & Delivery or High-Risk Antepartum Care

Responsibilities:
Perform telephonic triage using clinical decision-making tools to assess patient symptoms and determine appropriate care pathways
Facilitate patient consults, transfers, and referrals by coordinating with physicians, hospitals, and specialty services
Operate telemedicine equipment to support remote clinical evaluations and consultations
Accurately document patient encounters and triage decisions in the electronic health record in a timely and thorough manner
Collaborate with internal and external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
Provide patient and family education as appropriate during telephonic or virtual encounters
Adhere to UAMS policies, procedures, and protocols while maintaining compliance with the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act
Maintain patient confidentiality and practice in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Participate in quality assurance activities, staff meetings, and continuing education related to telehealth and patient safety
Demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, communication, and customer service skills in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
Other duties as assigned.
