Summary of Job Duties: A Post Doctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Teresita Bellido at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics (https://physiology.uams.edu/) to study the hormonal interactions between glucocorticoids and Vitamin D in bone and skeletal muscle. This position will use a combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro approaches at the tissue, cellular, and molecular levels, to analyze the action of the hormones and potential pharmacological interventions that prevent their damaging effects.
Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Molecular and Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related field required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Drug administration by subcutaneous, intravenous, and intraperitoneal injections and gavage.

  • Ex vivo bone and skeletal muscle organ cultures in vitro culture of primary bone, skeletal muscle, and other cell types, and cell lines.

  • Quality control and statistical analysis.

  • Working with animals – for example, mouse models

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification of mentoring training.

  • Ability to mentor personnel at different stages in their careers, and ability to work in a scientific team environment.

  • Proteomics and metabolomics analysis.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Involved in quality control and statistical analysis of the data, including one-, two-, and three-way ANOVA analyses, two factor repeated measures ANOVA, ANOSIM, and four parametric logistics curve analyses.

  • Contribute to interpretation of the results, writing of abstracts and manuscripts for publication, and grant proposal preparation.

  • Involved in training and supervision of graduate students, technicians, and summer students

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
