Summary of Job Duties: The Grants Manager has a critical role in the development, administration, and monitoring of Regional Programs' federal grant awards, with a primary focus on providing regular financial reports and upholding and adhering to all institutional policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations. This position will be responsible for both pre- and post-award life cycle grant assistance, including the development of budgets, monitoring grant financial progress, identifying and resolving expense issues, and facilitating communication between grant staff and other UAMS grant resource offices, including OSPAN, ORSP and Grants Accounting. This position supports Regional Campus' Senior Director, Director of Operations and Senior Grant Administrator.

Grant Management and Administration Management: Develop and manage budgets for grant-funded projects, tracking expenses, and ensuring that funds are used in accordance with the grant agreements. Assist with award acceptance, modification, carryover/no-cost extension, subcontract, and closeout procedures. Identify and resolve expense receipt issues to ensure timely financial closeouts.

Monitoring: Monitor expenses and make recommendations for changes based on grant projections.

Reporting: Prepare and present regular financial status reports for multiple federal awards to grant leadership, providing transparency and accountability in financial matters. Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to grants, including grant agreements, correspondence, financial records, and reports.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing UAMS/HRSA grant management and UAMS/HRSA financial processes. Identify and mitigate potential risks related to grant program financials. Educating staff and program managers on grant compliance and reporting requirements to ensure everyone involved is aware of their responsibilities.

Grant Identification and Preparation: Assist grant team with the identification of funding opportunities, proposal development, the coordination of proposal preparation and proposal submission. Enter documents into relevant grant submission portals, such as MUSE, as needed.

Communication: Serve as a point of contact with all UAMS grant resource departments.

Other: Self-assess skill gaps and seek professional development opportunities related to grant/financial management. Other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in research administration, health administration, education, or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of contracts or grants management pre-award and/or post-award experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3)- Five (5) years of contracts or grants management pre-award and/or post-award experience preferred.
