Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Nursing Director will promote and coordinate an environment of professional excellence in nursing practice and professional development for all nurses at UAMS. This individual will assume accountability and responsibility for positively influencing quality of care for patients by providing leadership and implementation of evidenced based practice initiatives through innovation and professional nursing practice including accreditation of Magnet recognition.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Nursing

  • Current National Certification (such as CNE)

  • Five (5) years of general clinical experience as an RN.

  • Three (3) years of educational or similar experience

  • Valid Arkansas Registered Nursing License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in nursing or applicable field

  • Seven (7) years of general clinical experience as an RN.

  • Four (4) years in education setting

  • Three (3) years in leadership capacity

  • National Certification in addition to board certification in quality, specialty nursing practice, or other related


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Center for Nursing Excellence (CNE) by driving the professional practice model to continually advance nursing excellence. Provides consultation and collaboration with shared decision-making councils, the CNO, Directors, Clinical Services Managers and Clinical Specialists to assure effective and strategic programs support for the vision of nursing at UAMS

  • Direct oversight of nurse recognition programs, RN Clinical Ladder, professional development support programs, shared governance meetings and structure

  • Collaborates in event planning for CNE programs

  • Provides strong leadership for nursing through education and mentoring

  • Fosters an atmosphere that promotes a culture of inquiry

  • Oversees RNIV/V Review Board

  • Develops EBP & Nursing Quality Training Programs

  • Serves as the Program Manager for Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Develops designs, promotes and manages infrastructure and programs with special attention to the Magnet standards related to patient experience, quality outcomes, and RN engagement
