Overview:

The Shipping supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating the shipments going in and out of the facility, taking care of quality and safety. In this position, you will oversee the improvement of the procedures to make the timing and tasks more efficient during the loading process and are responsible for the revision of the plant Supply Chain Manager. 

Location: Berea, KY

Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and manage current and future customer demands to schedule the trucks going out to them and make the procedures in place more efficient
  • Create a pickup schedule for the empty racks that need to go out to the FAB plants at Vitro and vendors. 
  • Coordinate the team to work according to the needs of the company
  • Management of the empty racks. (Receiving tracker, empty rack inventory, damage rack inventory, customer portal, etc.)
  • Management of the personnel involved in the shipping area. (Work instructions, training, Standard work, job observations, etc.) 
  • Monitoring of the delivery rates to the customers. (Shortages, mislabeling, complete loads, etc.)
  • Daily follow-up with the hold area at the dock to clean the goods with issues
  • Inventory control on their designated area. (Shipping docks and finished good storage)
  • Take part in and help manage the product launch process from the supply chain perspective
  • Communicate and work with departments related to shipping to achieve shipments in time and quantity matters
  • Continually look for, recommend, and initiate improvements related to the shipping process or inventory control procedures
  • Knowledge of customer portals revising information and answers as needed
  • Communication during the war room meeting about the potential issues going on during the day at shipping
  • Comply with all VITRO corporate/staff activities. (5s, 4Ms, external audits, etc.) 
  • Comply with all VITRO EHS policies and procedures and relevant governmental regulations. Use good safety judgment and awareness at all times
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of SMX and in vitro employees within the logistics functions related to shipping
  • Has authority to schedule pickups and arrange or define better practices according to the procedures
  • Manages and applies guidelines to meet the timing of the customers' loads

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques
  • Proven skills and knowledge in training, coaching, and performance evaluation
  • Knowledge of MS Office software: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail 

 

Salary Range: $60,000 - $62,000 annually, depending on experience and geographic location.
Please note that actual compensation offered may vary based on local pay requirements, and will meet or exceed state-specific minimum wage or salary thresholds.
