The MetroHealth System (MHS) seeks a dynamic and respected leader to be the next Chairperson of the Department of Geriatrics, within our Population Health Institute. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the MHS is a fully integrated provider of high-quality healthcare, inclusive of the MetroHealth Medical Center and over 60 additional inpatient and outpatient facilities throughout Cuyahoga County. The Geriatrics Department includes 12 faculty and 22 Advanced Practice Providers that covers multiple outpatient family health centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and a Red Carpet program.

The Chair must be a compelling leader with an Academic rank at Assistant Professor or higher. Recruitment, retention and mentoring of junior faculty are critically important components of the position. The Chair will also be a prudent steward of the Department and MetroHealth, guiding it through the inevitable changes in healthcare and our society.

The Chair will be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the academic, educational and clinical missions within the Department including support of active clinical research and faculty development. The Chair will promote a culture of institutional stewardship and transparency, including commitment to improved clinical and academic operations, efficient and effective use of space, and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving institutional strategies.

The Department of Geriatrics has a strong fully accredited geriatric fellowship program as well as growing geriatric outpatient and skilled nursing programs. The Department is very successful in treating patients with complex needs do to Social Determinants of Health. We are seeking providers with a passion for clinical care, process improvement and excellent quality of care. Qualified candidates must be Board Certified/CAQ in Geriatrics and 3-5 years of leadership experience in a Geriatric academic environment. Experience in Geriatric Fellowship Education, Quality Improvement and Clinical Demonstration Research is also required. Compensation and academic appointment will be commensurate with experience and achievement.
