The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is seeking Civil Engineering Interns and Entry-Level Engineers (EITs) to join our transportation teams in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Plano/Dallas, Texas. These roles offer hands-on exposure to the full life cycle of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway and bridge design, traffic and signalization, drainage, and construction inspection, while working alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals.

Position Summary:
The Civil Engineering Intern / Entry-Level Engineer (EIT) supports transportation infrastructure projects by assisting with design, field services, and inspections under the guidance of senior staff. This role provides practical experience in civil and transportation engineering while supporting projects that improve safety, mobility, and efficiency for Texas communities.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
• Support roadway, drainage, and traffic design tasks using Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar design software.
• Assist with preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and quantity and cost estimates.
• Support construction field services, including inspections, documentation, and reporting.
• Coordinate with survey, inspection, and design teams to support project delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to address technical challenges.
Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Prior internship, co-op, or academic project experience in transportation engineering.
• Familiarity with Civil 3D, MicroStation, or comparable design tools.
• Strong interest in roadway design, traffic engineering, bridges, or construction inspection.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform office-based work and periodic field activities.
• Ability to walk, stand, and navigate construction sites or uneven terrain during site visits.
• Ability to use standard office equipment and engineering software.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• Combination of office and field environments.
• Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction sites.
• Moderate noise levels during field or inspection activities.
Additional Information:
• Employment Type: Internship (part-time or full-time) and full-time entry-level opportunities are available.
• Work Location: Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Plano/Dallas, Texas.
• Travel: Occasional local or regional travel may be required for site visits and field assignments.
