Australia Awards Nauru (AAN) and Nauru Education Program (NEP)

Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Australia Awards provides prestigious international scholarships and fellowships, offering the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia and the Pacific region.

The Nauru Education Program (NEP) is a five year, Government of Australia investment to support the Government of Nauru to improve access and learning outcomes for children in the early years, and to support a more relevant secondary education system.

Key responsibilities

The Team Leader holds overall management responsibility for the technical, administrative and logistical delivery of the AAN and NEP programs, including responsibility for the supervision and coordination of all program personnel. The Team Leader is also responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with the Department of Education and the Australian High Commission in Nauru. The Team Leader will:

  • Oversee all aspects of the NEP and AAN programs, including staff, finances, office and program delivery.
  • Lead the annual planning and reporting processes, ensuring timely delivery of comprehensive and high-quality milestone reports.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the integration of the cross-cutting issues across the decision-making, management and implementation of AAN and NEP, including in ways that promote gender equality and are sensitive to cultural and gender concerns.

Selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, International Development or other related discipline.
  • Experience managing the delivery of activities for a large project or program.
  • Demonstrated, in-depth experience of the education sector, ideally in Nauru.
  • Deep understanding of the Pacific context, ideally with extensive experience working in Nauru.
