We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater engineer to assist in growing Tetra Tech's Texas engineering business. Candidate must be highly motivated and work well in a professional and team-oriented environment. Candidate must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, travel as needed, possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications is a requirement.
Your Role:
Tetra Tech is seeking an Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Houston, Texas team to provide support on various engineering projects throughout Texas. This role will be primarily commercial facing with a focus on industrial clients, mainly Oil & Gas related. This person will be splitting their time between high level Program Management & technical responsibilities with a high degree of autonomy associated with both. Duties will include:
- Interact with commercial/industrial clients to identify needs, develop, and process solutions.
- Primary point of contact for the client in all engineering-related matters.
- Attend and potentially lead regularly scheduled meetings of the client.
- Lead meetings with clients to review project specifics.
- Lead internal engineering and design teams on single and multi-disciplined projects.
- Assume role of lead technical engineer as needed.
- Review other members of the team's design efforts.
- Review calculations prepared by others within the Civil/Environmental group related to water/wastewater.
- Perform periodic quality control reviews.
- Monitor project budget and schedule.
- Update project budget and schedule regularly.
- Oversee the preparation of permit applications to regulatory agencies; occasionally take lead on permit application preparation.
- Interface with vendors, equipment suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Meet with regulatory agencies.
- Attend bid openings, review bid packages, and make recommendations to clients for the award of contracts.
- Occasionally, serve as lead person on proposal development of new opportunities.
- Write proposals and Engineering Work Orders (EWOs).
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical, etc.)
- A Professional Engineering (PE) License.
- 5+ years of Business Development & Department Growth (Client interaction, mentorship, etc.)
- Preparation of fee estimates, proposals, statements of qualifications, etc.
- 10+ years of experience with designing & managing water & wastewater projects from an COMMERCIAL / INDUSTRIAL BACKGROUND (Not Municipal).
- Responsible for budget, schedule, contractual obligations, client service, and quality standards.
- Knowledge and experience with environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements of Texas.
- Good communication (Coordinate meetings, conduct effective client presentations, prepare written reports).
- Ability to travel to client locations, both sites and offices.
- Applicant must be able to drive and pass a motor vehicle records check.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
