SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
LOCATION: 2000, 250 6 Ave SW Calgary, Alberta

Our Calgary office is a multidisciplinary team of designers, technologists, and engineers. We specialize in small to mid-sized projects for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:
- Heavy Industrial Facilities
- Pipelines and Pipeline Facilities
- Refineries and Processing Facilities
- Mineral Processing
- Municipal & Utilities
- Water treatment
- Energy Transition (CO2, Hydrogen, RNG, Renewables and associated minerals)
We are currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Mechanical team members will work closely with a group of engineering professionals and will gain valuable hands-on engineering experience in a challenging and versatile engineering consulting environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interface with the project team and client as the Mechanical Lead to complete DBM, FEED and Detailed Engineering deliverables
- Prepare basic design and/or engineering reports
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards such as CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, ASME VIII, API 650, API 610, etc.
- Prepare and manage material take-offs and requisition packages, technical evaluations, and vendor document reviews and approvals
- Provide direction to piping designers for pipe specifications, pipe routing and equipment layouts
- Prepare manhour estimates for project scopes and change-orders for piping/mechanical disciplines
- Provide mechanical input to PIDs for valves, skids, vessels, rotating equipment, SP items, etc
- Prepare Construction / Engineering Work Packages (CWPs, EWPs) and associated evaluations
- Intermediate/Senior Engineers will prepare engineering calculations and reports for the following (based on experience or role):
- CSA and ASME Piping wall thickness calculations
- API 650 and API VIII calculations
- Hot tap calculations (piping, tank, pressure vessel)
- Material specifications
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- 8+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered as a P.Eng with APEGA (other jurisdictions and asset)
- Experience with pipeline facility projects, pump or compressor stations and tank farms
- Experience with Oil Sands Tailings is preferred
- Experience with Rotating Equipment or HVAC is considered an asset
- Previous experience in oilsands MOC projects would be an asset
- Previous field experience in an operating facility or construction would be an asset
- Competency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Autopipe, Ceasar II, NozzlePro, Abacus experience is an asset
- AFT Impulse, Bentley Hammer, SPS experience is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others and socialize with clients
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
Periodic travel within Canada to client sites and regional Tetra Tech offices may be required. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing and background checks may be required for our client worksites.
