The opportunity

Australia Awards PNG

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, through enduring relationships with Australia. This is achieved through institution-to-institution partnerships and inclusive collaborations that produces high quality education and strengthens accredited training institutions in PNG.

The program ensures opportunities are provided for women, people with disabilities and people from rural and remote locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead in the review and update of the Higher Education Partnerships (HEP) strategy and activity implementation approaches.
  • Responsible for the development of the annual HEP budget and expenditure and provide guidance on monthly forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships to achieve both HEP and broader Program outcomes.
  • Ensure agreed outputs are submitted on time and to a high standard in line with company and DFAT requirements. This includes but is not limited to quality reporting, milestones, deliverables, data, and key performance indicators.
  • Ensure HEP activities effectively mainstream monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) and gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) principles and practices.

Selection criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification in a related field such as education, human resource development, international development, or business administration.
  • Demonstrated experience (10+ years desirable) at a senior level in the planning and management in international education or training, such as university administration, student recruitment, admissions, and/or scholarship management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing extensive budgets, financial planning, and monitoring.
  • Substantial experience at a senior level in the planning and management of projects or teams involving human resource development, education, or training.
