Position Summary:

We are seeking a GIS Analyst to support a variety of projects and programs, including federal, state, and local government contracts with a primary focus on transportation. In this role, you will provide technical expertise in the analysis, conversion, and publication of geospatial data to support the planning, design, and management of infrastructure systems. While the primary emphasis is on transportation data, including roads, bridges, signs, signals, and drainage, you may also contribute to projects involving water, wastewater, stormwater, and electrical utilities.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Analysis, conversion, and publication of geospatial data primarily related to transportation data, geospatial analysis, and management and maintenance of infrastructure related datasets, but also may also include water. Wastewater, stormwater, and electrical utilities .   

  • Work as a member of geospatial team assisting in delivery of engineering projects utilizing a variety of geospatial tools and applications.

  • Lead geospatial analysis, conversion, and publication of transportation-related geospatial data (roads, bridges, signs, signals, drainage).

  • Convert a variety of input formats (CAD, paper, LiDAR, tabular databases, GPS) into enterprise GIS datasets.

  • Develop, configure, and administer Trimble Unity for public-works asset management workflows.

  • Assist in developing and customizing geospatial applications and/or customized solutions and deploy web mapping applications dashboards using ArcGIS Enterprise (Experience Builder, REST, Python, HTML/CSS/JSON/JS).

  • Create custom reports and managerial updates to key personnel.

  • Use advanced data management tools to automate repetitive processes and improve data quality and visualization products.

  • Research records, collects data, and performs field work to verify engineering drawings, CAD, and GIS information.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    Minimum of 7 years of related GIS experience.

  • Proficiency in GIS and web-based mapping application development.

  • Working knowledge of SQL Server and other relational database systems.

  • Introductory to intermediate experience with Python scripting and/or Arcade for data analysis.

  • Knowledge of transportation infrastructure engineering and design principles.. 

  • Ability to read, interpret, and extract details from transportation-related engineering drawings.

  • Understanding of transportation-related maintenance activities.

  • Basic knowledge of Civil 3D.

  • Experience configuring and managing Trimble Unity software (data integration, workflows).

  • Introductory to intermediate experience with ArcGIS Pro and general cartography/map production.

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, including Experience Builder and supported ESRI languages/APIs (REST Services, Python, HTML, CSS, JSON, JavaScript).

  • Strong desire and ability to learn emerging geospatial technologies related to asset management, business risk evaluations, and master planning.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using ESRI ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server 10.8 or higher (Experience Builder, Story Map, Field Maps, Survey123), with geodatabase design and management skills.

  • GISP certification.

  • Experience with Office365 cloud-based tools and workflow automation, including MS Access, SharePoint, Power BI, JavaScript, Python, R, SQL, and DAX.

  • Database skills (e.g. Microsoft Access and SQL Server), a working knowledge of SQL, and experience using ESRIs ArcGIS on-line web-based GIS environment. 

  • Developing digital data collection tools is useful and a plus, including ESRI's Survey123, QuickCapture, Collector, and Workforce, and Microsoft Forms, PowerApps, etc.

  • Data manipulation and as well as data analysis/task automation experience (e.g. Python, ArcPy, R, VBA, etc.). 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to walk and work outdoors on uneven terrain and in all weather conditions, including heat and cold.

  • Must be able to travel occasionally for project or client meetings.

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Tetra Tech's motor vehicle policy; regular driving is required for field and site visits.

 

 

Work/Environment Factors:

  • Work will be performed in both office and field environments.

  • Field assignments may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction or infrastructure sites.

  • The position may occasionally require travel to project locations, client offices, or other Tetra Tech facilities.

  • Some evening or weekend work may be necessary based on project needs.
