The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Regional Transmission Sector Siting & Permitting Lead for the western United States. This individual will play a critical role in establishing the strategic direction for Tetra Tech's Transmission sector, working closely with other operational and business development leaders.

Your Role:

Business Development:

  • Identify and win large transmission programs while leveraging Tetra Tech's relationships with existing utility and developer clients.
  • Grow the top transmission client accounts in Tetra Tech's portfolio.
  • Track opportunities across Tetra Tech's services and champion an integrated approach in the Western U.S., focusing on the Northwest, CAISO, Southwest, SPP, MISO or ERCOT regions.
  • Partner with Program Managers and Operation Managers to assist regional leaders in developing Annual Operating Plans (AOP).
  • Build and develop a team of high performers; recruit and retain specialist staff, project managers, and account managers within the practice.
  • Develop in-house sector expertise, best practices, and R&D initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Renewable Energy account managers and business development team.

 

Strategic Thinking:

  • Identify industry trends and develop a long-term view of the market and client base.
  • Contribute to Tetra Tech's growth by establishing new service areas.
  • Anticipate medium- and long-term client needs and industry dynamics.
  • Innovate and enhance Tetra Tech's Transmission capabilities, geographic footprint, and integrated approach.

 

Leadership:

  • Direct all marketing and business development activities within the Transmission Sector.
  • Lead outreach efforts, including white papers, conferences, and seminars.
  • Support the development of multi-disciplinary project execution teams, including engineering, survey, and geotechnical practitioners.
  • Promote Tetra Tech's culture, prioritizing employee health and safety.

 

Qualifications:

Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Ability to create innovative and effective client solutions aligned with sector and global business objectives.
  • Proven experience in building rapport and trust with clients, business leaders, and team members.

  • Proactive market leader known for sustaining long-term client relationships.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required.
  • A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental science or engineering required.
  • Graduate degree in a technical, business, or marketing field preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in the Transmission sector, with expertise in consulting preferred.
  • Environmental regulatory experience with Western region Independent System Operators (ISO) and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO) required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary Range: $195,000 - $225,000 yr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

 

A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
