What You Will Get to Do:  

Congress provided USACE with $17B in supplemental funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This combined with a trend of record USACE annual funding appropriations and Emergency Supplemental Disaster Recovery Appropriations for USACE in 3 of the past 5 years totaling over $7B have the nation's waterways set up for a ten-year program of design and construction.

As an industry leader in water-related design services for many local, state and federal clients, including USACE, BOR, and NRCS, Tetra Tech has recently placed over 1B dollars in contract capacity to serve our clients.  We have recently been selected to lead the design of multiple ongoing top priority USACE projects, including rehabilitation of inland navigation lock and dam systems, design of new navigation locks, and coastal protection projects. These projects represent a once in a generation investment in our nation's waterways.  

The Project Manager will work closely with national industry leaders and local experts as part of the Midwest Design Center to support clients with infrastructure design for water resource related projects. Upcoming projects include: 

-Project Management of the design of new and existing lock and dam features as part of the U.S. Inland Waterway Navigation System. Work will include managing the work products associated with designing lock walls, guide walls and gates.  

 

-Project Management of the design of dams and levees nationwide: Tetra Tech is a nationwide consultant to the USACE, NRCS and serves locally through our global network of offices many non-federal government agencies and utilities. Work includes dam and levee safety inspections, retrofit and removal design services, fish passage, and new infrastructure design.  

 

More About This Role:

  • Manage complex, multi-discipline infrastructure projects of civil works structures (flood protection, navigation locks, dam structures), waterfront structures, pump stations, and bridges, including oversight of the project execution and day-to-day project management. 
  • Work in partnership with the business development team to develop and execute strategic plans for capturing projects. Includes developing client relationships, identifying opportunities, project scoping, cost proposals and negotiation, and contract review. 
  • Strong client facing and team communication skills, with the ability to direct a team to solve client needs within the agreed upon scope, schedule and cost requirements. 
  • Manage company risk exposure through attention to detail for project finances, contract legal considerations, and technical quality management. 
  • Deliver services in compliance with all health and safety requirements. 
  • Understand and manage engineering risk, legal risk, financial project performance and scope deviations.  
  • Responsible for overall client satisfaction and repeat business opportunities and will work with other managers and experts to market current clients and develop, identify, and attract new clients and recruit high-quality staff. 
  • Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines – including presentations, reports, studies, design review meetings, and training. 
  • Provide direction, oversight and mentorship to junior staff working as part of your team on projects. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

You Will Bring These Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (master's degree preferred). 
  • 15+ years of relevant project management experience. 
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) certification (Required): SE preferred. PMP certification or other formal training preferred. 
  • Track record of successful project management and project delivery. 
  • Experience overseeing technical staff using complex FEA/structural analysis software programs (such as SAP2000, ANSYS, CSIBridge, and/or LPILE).  
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office, scheduling software such as Primavera, document management tools such as ProjectWise and other software for scope change and risk management is preferred.  
  • Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and willing to work both independently and in a team environment, both in person and virtual.  
  • Ability to inspire, mentor, and motivate technical staff. 
  • Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and make independent decisions that promote/advance the company goals and objectives. 
  • Experience with USACE or other federal or local government agencies preferred.

The salary range or hourly wage for this position is approximately $135,000 to $195,000 depending on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
