  • Proficiency in coastal modeling software and GIS applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or Florida

Why Tetra Tech? Our coastal team throughout the US works together to provide the expertise needed for our clients. Our Central South Water division team is primarily located along mid-coast Texas. We routinely collaborate with our oil and gas, infrastructure, and environmental service divisions to provide comprehensive services for all federal, state, and municipal clients. At Tetra Tech, you'll join our team of coastal engineers and scientists to work on some of the most technically challenging projects such as:

  • On Whidbey Island, Washington, SES-TECH (a joint venture with Sealaska Environmental Services and Tetra Tech) performed both time-critical removal action (TCRA) and non-TCRA remediation services. The work included temporary emergency stabilization to stop erosion of the Area 1 landfill seawall and the design and construction of a permanent, green-sustainable landfill cap remedy, providing long-term protection through the installation of a permanent coastal protection system.
  • In Fort Pierce, Florida, Tetra Tech provided the design and permitting of the reconstruction and expansion of the marina, and coordination with FEMA on a hazard damage mitigation plan for storm protection after the marina was destroyed by hurricanes. This project included a 15-acre island breakwater complex that incorporated mangroves, oyster reefs, and beach grasses to provide protection from hurricane waves, high tidal currents, and enhance stability and functional performance under existing and projected sea level rise conditions.
  • In West Hempstead Bay, New York, Tetra Tech provided baseline field investigations, hydrodynamic modeling, and design services for 6.5 square kilometers (1,600 acres) of marsh edge stabilization and restoration. The marsh restoration alternatives are intended to provide wave and flood protection benefits to the communities in the lower Mill River Basin.
  • In St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, Tetra Tech provided engineering design and permitting services to establish 33 kilometers (21 miles) of living shoreline. We reviewed licensing requirements, material, production rates, unit geometry, unit handling, installation procedures, performance, and cost. Detailed criteria were applied to determine products best suited for specific geotechnical and topographic site conditions, as well as the wind and wave environment. This included reduction of wave transmission, area of substrate provided for oyster growth, geotechnical stability, hydrodynamic stability, and cost effectiveness.
  • In Portersville Bay, Alabama, Tetra Tech provided engineering and design services to limit wave heights, minimize erosion of smooth cordgrass, and design a breakwater that allows for recruitment of marine life. Field investigations included bathymetric and topographic surveys, sediment sampling and geotechnical laboratory testing, and marine resource and cultural resource surveys. Project goals included using living shoreline techniques utilizing artificial breakwater materials to increase productivity and stabilize shorelines along the Mississippi Sound.

At Tetra Tech, we offer a collaborative and supportive work environment where your contributions make a difference. We provide opportunities for professional growth and development, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package. Join us in our mission to create sustainable coastal solutions and make a positive impact on the environment and communities we serve.
