Your Role:

  • Provide engineering, investigation, analysis, design, construction oversite, and operations services for mine waste and tailings storage facilities.
  • Perform geotechnical evaluations including material characterization of mine tailings behavior, shear strength and static and seismic loading response, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses.
  • Use field data to prepare factual and interpretative engineering reports with the support of senior staff.
  • Prepare and present technical evaluation results to the internal team.
  • Review geotechnical instrumentation and assist with the preparation of instrumentation reports.
  • Work with field staff on construction aspects of the projects.
  • Communicate with clients, sub-consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in either Geotechnical, Geological or Mining Engineering.
  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment would be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
  • Possess good technical writing skills.
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Previous experience using AutoCAD, GeoStudio products and MS office is essential.
  • Previous experience working in the mining environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), teamwork and mentorship skills are essential.
  • Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.
  • Candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, generally within western Canada, with potential for field assignments elsewhere in Canada and internationally.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the manual field duties required.
  • Must be registered, or eligible to register, as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in British Columbia.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.
  • Possess a valid British Columbia Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
