 Tetra Tech's National Energy Practice continues to expand, and we are adding a Jr. CAD Specialist  to support a wide range of energy projects from concept through construction.

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position and is hybrid or remote eligible.

Position Summary:

The Jr. CAD Specialist will support engineers and designers by preparing drawings and design documents using CAD software, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with CAD standards. This role includes supporting the preparation of 2D/3D models, reviewing design layouts, and assisting with revisions based on team or client input.

 

Your Role:

  • Prepare complete drawing sets, including plans, sections, and detailed design documents.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as civil, structural, and electrical engineering.
  • Maintain drawing compliance with company and client CAD standards.
  • Support engineers by translating initial design concepts into workable models and drawings.
  • Consult with internal design teams to clarify technical requirements and specifications.
  • Review drawings for accuracy and identify potential errors or design conflicts.
  • Develop 2D and/or 3D models using CAD software.
  • Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers and clients.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings.
  • Support multiple project teams and help ensure deliverables are completed on time.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; additional technical coursework/certification in CAD is a plus.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience preparing land development or infrastructure design documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
  • Ability to create surfaces, profiles, pipe networks, and corridors.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in drafting output.
  • Ability to manage task priorities and meet production deadlines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, CAD certificate, or related technical coursework.
  • Experience supporting engineering or environmental consulting projects.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy or utility-scale infrastructure design.
  • Exposure to 3D modeling or related drafting tools (e.g., Revit, MicroStation).
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong organization, documentation, and file management skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Occasional office or project site visits may be required.

 

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • Hybrid or remote work environment with coordination across multiple teams and offices.
  • Collaboration through virtual and in-person meetings depending on project needs.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $40,000 – $55,000 annually

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
