Your Role:
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Designer for our Mississauga, Ontario office. An Electrical Designer provides direct support to the Electrical Design Engineering Department. Candidates will perform electrical design, using a drafting software, and technical calculations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Responsibilities:
- Prepare layouts, elevation views, grounding, lighting, lightning, installation details drawings and any other drawings required by the requirements of the projects.
- Perform electrical calculations and prepare material lists.
- Prepare complex and complete drawings using computerized drafting tools, using AutoCAD and Microstation.
- Help junior designers with developing drafting and design skills.
- Exercise initiative in completing recurring assignments independently and applying judgement in determining which of many methods are applicable
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited institute program in Electrical Technology or Technician with OACETT Certification
- 4+ years of relevant design/drafting experience in consulting and/or Energy environment is considered an asset
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD
- Experience in the renewable, transmission and distribution field is considered a major asset
- Knowledge and working experience related to Canadian Electrical Code and Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Computer knowledge in MS Office Suite
- Ability to work in team environment
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Experience in an engineering consulting firm is considered an asset.
- Working experience with a 3D design software is considered a major asset
Additional Information
A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
