Project Summary:

The Mozambique Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MozMEL) Activity is a five-year initiative to support the Mission in monitoring, evaluation, learning, training, and logistical support. The Improved Family Planning Initiative (IFPI) cooperative agreement is nearing the midterm of the five-year period of performance. There is a desire to understand the progress with both the community-level and facility-level interventions. This midterm evaluation will take an inward approach to foster implementation-focused learning to ascertain needs not covered by the project and how the design changes can be addressed in the project's lifetime and beyond.

Position Summary:

The IFPI Clinical Consultant will report to the IFPI Lead Consultant. The Clinical Consultant will conduct key informant interviews (KII), observations on post-partum health facility clients, and exit interviews with the same clients leaving the health facility. This is a short-term position, with travel as needed. The expected level of effort is 20 days during the period September – December 2023.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the field team for data collection.
  • Collect data at the facility level to assess the technical assistance (TA) provided to health care providers, such as TA adoption and retention of information.
  • Understand how the TA is implemented according to plan, including who is providing the TA, and how is it implemented in different health facility types such as Serviços Amigos dos Adolescentes e Jovens (SAAJ).
  • Contribute to the development of the evaluation draft report.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as medicine, health sciences, maternal and child health, or pediatrics is required.
  • Minimum two years of relevant professional experience in a health-related field work is required.
  • Experience in collecting data in Mozambique is required.
  • Fluency in Portuguese is required. Knowledge of local languages Zambézia and Nampula is preferred.
