Tetra Tech is looking for a Hazardous Waste Support Specialist. This position provides customer support for the client in determining regulatory compliance as it pertains to hazardous waste management process in accordance with Air Force, local, state, and federal regulations governing the acquisition, distribution, storage and use of hazardous waste. Provide support for the pick-up and delivery of full and empty containers to facilities across the installation.  Pick-up and delivery of containers requires personnel to drive vehicles, operate forklifts, and inspect container contents.  Rinses empty containers prior to recycling, consolidates materials/wastes for collection/disposal. This position requires the employee to be a US citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Primary duties include:  
•    Interacts with Hazardous Waste Program Manager and Hazardous Waste Management Facility Supervisor ensuring environmental compliance with all environmental protocols.  
•    Pick up waste containers--verifying accurate labeling; waste container contents; serializing, issuing, inspecting, receiving, and transport of containers to approved storage locations.  
•    Deliver empty containers to on-base organizations for waste collection; picking up full containers from on- base organizations; as well as proper and timely disposition of these items.  
•    Collect empty material containers from around the base when notified, bring the containers back to the CPF, triple-rinse and crush the containers. 
•    Consolidate materials/wastes for collection/disposal.

Qualifications & Requirements:  
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ideal candidate would be familiar with the following.
•    Knowledge of Air Force Instructions (AFI) and other guidance documents and federal environmental regulations relevant to hazardous materials management, especially AFI 32-7042 Waste Management.
•    Working knowledge of Air Force Waste Tracking Systems and other Air Force hazardous waste management mission support systems and reporting software, specifically, EESOH-MIS.
•    Working knowledge of hazardous materials management, and Occupations Safety Health Administration Hazard Communication Standard found in 29 CFR 1910.
•    Training would be available for staff unfamiliar with some of these requirements.
•    40-hour HAZWOPER is required for this position.
•    Staff will require a medical physical and pass.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and perform activities that could potentially require the following: performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and weather conditions; standing, crouching, and sitting to support coordination of hazardous waste management tasks, lifting and/or moving items weighing greater than 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Will be working in hot and cold conditions. Therefore, potential exposure to natural hazards, i.e., rain and snow

Language & Communication Skills: Employee must have good written and oral communication skills; must be fluent in the English language – writing, reading, and speaking, 

Other Skills:  Employee must be fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data management systems.
