Proposal Summary:
The objective of the South Sudan Peace Building and Independent Media (PBIM) Activity is focused on resolving ongoing communal conflicts to reduce violence and build a sustainable peace by addressing the underlying causes of conflict, promoting reconciliation, and supporting the development of inclusive and resilient communities. To foster reconciliation and trust-building, enhance social cohesion and community resilience, livelihood support, and trauma awareness through community-based initiatives; the activity will target conflict-affected communities across the hot spots with a focus on women, youth, people with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, ethnic minorities and key stakeholders in communities such as traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and religious leaders.
Position Summary:
MSI is seeking a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor to support the PBIM activity in Juba, South Sudan. The GESI Specialist will lead efforts to create a gender-sensitive and transformative culture within PBIM and its programs. They will develop GESI and youth methodologies, policies, and tools, ensuring their integration into all activities, with a focus on marginalized groups, youth, and women. The GESI Specialist will train the PBIM team on relevant tools and policies and work to ensure high-quality, socially inclusive programming aligned with PBIM objectives. The GESI Specialist will also support and oversee the development ofgender, youth, and social inclusion assessments, and inclusive programming. This will be a full-time position based in Juba, South Sudan. The position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement gender, youth and social inclusion assessments to inform strategy, methodology, and program activities, with a focus on marginalized populations.
- Coordinate with program staff to ensure activities are inclusive.
- Design and deploy tools, best practices, trainings to ensure inclusive programming.
- Advise on inclusive monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting systems, processes, and indicators
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in international development, peacebuilding, conflict resolution or other relevant field preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience, with at least two in gender and social inclusion programming, similar experience in youth programming highly desired.
- Familiarity with donor polices, such as USAID's gender and social inclusion policies
- Demonstrated knowledge of gender and youth in the South Sudanese context
- Experience in technical writing and drafting of assessments, reports, and MEL plans with lens on social inclusion preferred
- Familiarity in addressing issues related to safeguarding and gender-based violence within the South Sudan context preferred
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
