Your Role:

Candidate will perform a variety of office and field tasks, including site investigations, field sampling, and related work. The candidate will provide office support for data management, use GIS software tools to manage and analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain the required documentation and forms.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing site visits and field sampling, such as stormwater sampling, visual observations, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance inspections, and other environmental-related field activities
  • Preparing and collaborating on environmental compliance reports, sampling plans, government memorandums, engineering designs, and presentations
  • Developing solutions by using technical scientific principles, theories, practices, engineering standards, and existing technologies
  • Collecting, entering, and interpreting data by conducting analyses to compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations
  • Developing and designing control measures, such as green infrastructure and BMPs, for stormwater and erosion and sediment control (ESC) compliance
  • Interacting with and developing relationships with clients, facility personnel, and project staff
  • Coordinating and managing meetings and training sessions
  • Working as part of a team under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., geology, environmental science or engineering, any scientific-related field)
  • At least 3-5 years of experience with NPDES permit compliance
  • Experience developing and implementing SWPPP and SPCC plans, researching regulatory applicability, and conducting compliance inspections
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and other common business software and web-based applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Works collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary
  • Attention to detail is required. The successful candidate must be able to observe, evaluate, and document site field conditions and communicate changes in field conditions to senior staff Ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, working groups, and internal customers required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license • Able to conduct field work, tolerate variable environmental conditions, walk on uneven surfaces, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds

 

Preferred Qualifications:

BS/BA degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., geology, environmental science or environmental engineering, any scientific related field) is required
Master's degrees in relevant scientific discipline are preferred • Certifications for stormwater management, green infrastructure, ESC, and flood plain management

Experience with the following:

  • ESRI suite of GIS software products, including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox
  • Writing technical government memorandums and reports
  • Water resource design for stream restoration, stormwater, and erosion and sediment control
  • Managing project teams to gather field data and prepare technical reports

 

Physical Demands:

  • Candidate must be able to walk large project sites and must be physically able to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment (such as sampling tools, GPS unit, field monitoring equipment and cameras) during field work.
  • Field activities take place in a variety of weather conditions and can occur in remote locations and include areas of uneven terrain or occur during harsh weather.
  • Candidate must be able to sit at a desk / computer in an office environment for office-based tasks.
