Tetra Tech is adding an Entry-Level Civil Construction Inspector (Resident Project Representative) to our Construction team in Ann Arbor, MI. This role supports municipal infrastructure projects and provides on-site construction observation, documentation, and coordination to help deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality public works.

Position Summary:
The Entry-Level Civil Construction Inspector supports the inspection and documentation of civil construction projects, including water, wastewater, and paving infrastructure. The position assists with ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents, maintaining accurate records, and serving as a liaison between project stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
⦁    Performs daily observation and documentation of construction activities, including subcontractor work.
⦁    Maintains daily reports, measurements, calculations, and quantity computations with written narratives of work completed.
⦁    Verifies construction activities conform to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
⦁    Maintains redline drawings to support preparation of construction record drawings.
⦁    Acts as a site liaison between the owner and contractor, including public engagement related to access and progress updates.
⦁    Supports projects involving water mains, sanitary sewer systems, water/wastewater treatment facilities, and paving.
⦁    Adheres to company policies related to safety, public relations, and employment.

Required Qualifications:
⦁    Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
⦁    Excellent organizational and communication skills.
⦁    Ability to travel periodically (approximately 15% or more).

Preferred Qualifications:
⦁    Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
⦁    Prior internship or coursework related to construction inspection or civil infrastructure projects.
⦁    Familiarity with municipal infrastructure standards and construction documentation.

Physical Requirements:
⦁    Ability to perform fieldwork outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
⦁    Ability to walk, stand, and position oneself for extended periods and to climb ladders or enter trenches as required for inspection activities.
⦁    Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
⦁    Combination of outdoor construction sites and office settings.
⦁    Exposure to variable weather conditions, construction noise, heavy equipment, and active work zones.
⦁    Potential exposure to confined spaces, heights, hazardous materials, and air- or water-borne pathogens with appropriate safety controls.

Additional Information:
⦁    Employment Type: Full-time.
⦁    Work Schedule: May include protracted or irregular hours depending on construction schedules and season.
⦁    Work Location: Ann Arbor, MI and surrounding project sites.
⦁    Travel Requirements: Approximately 15% or more.
⦁    Work Schedule: Primarily daytime hours with flexibility to support construction activities.
