The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech Rooney, a Tetra Tech Inc. business unit that provides consulting engineering primarily to the oil and gas midstream industry, is seeking a part time Senior Project Manager in our Englewood, CO location.

This position provides project management support for pipeline, pump station, and terminal/tank projects nationwide. You will lead/participate in a multi-disciplinary project team. A successful candidate will bring project management expertise to a team of established consultants with a proven track record of 42+ years in the Oil & Gas Industry.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead communicator with client and internal team.

  • Responsible for project scope, cost, schedule, and change management

  • Operates with management authority receiving some guidance from senior personnel and administrative direction.

  • Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate staff.

  • Reviews and evaluates technical work, interprets directives and issues instructions and other guidelines.

  • Assigns work to subordinates and appraises subordinate staff members.

  • Makes recommendations on the selection, training, rating and discipline of technical staff.

  • Makes broad responsible decisions on project budgets and staff planning.

  • Makes responsible technical and administrative decisions which are generally reviewed on a project level.

  • Is required to show resourcefulness and ingenuity.

  • Represents the company in client relationships, coordinates activities with other departments, exercises management responsibility with respect to selection, appraisal and training of staff.

  • May also have responsibility for construction, procurement, cost and scheduling.

  • Plans, schedules and organizes all phases of projects.

  • Reviews engineering and design schedules, manpower budgets and controls and monitors engineering expenditures and progress on projects.

  • Plans, organizes and coordinates projects in related multi-disciplines / fields of engineering.

  • Is required to have knowledge of human resources, financial and other administrative procedures.

  • Develops a definition of the scope of engineering services to be provided by the Company and establishes the basic design criteria for the project with the client.

  • Participates in studies, project definition and technical bid preparation for projects.

  • Develops, approves and coordinates work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in ABET accredited Engineering Program preferred, with 10-20 years of relevant project management experience. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge in the Midstream Oil & Gas industry, specifically crude oil, refined products, CO2, NGL, wet and natural gas.

  • Experience in Coordination with client SMEs/stakeholders and offsite team members (different time zones) for Project Execution.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to dissect problems and quickly develop solutions.

  • Proficiency with "standard" MS Office software and applications required.

  • Experience with scheduling software, cost estimating software/spreadsheets required. Job duties and software competencies vary based on client, but extensive interface with (and developing high proficiency with) specialized software is required to perform job duties and manage projects, clients and budgets effectively.

  • Ability to travel, up to 25%.

  • A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • NCEES record preferred.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

  • Experience with AutoDesk software or other 3D design platforms preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent periods of time sitting or standing at a desk.

  • Repetitive motions like typing, visual acuity for tasks like reading, using a computer, etc.

  • Occasional periods of time walking, lifting, and bending.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • Work will be primarily performed in an office setting with frequent periods of time sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer.

Additional Information:  

  • Part-time temporary position, no scheduled hours. Hours will vary based on project/client needs

Target salary range:  $85.00 / hour to $120.00 / hour.  Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
