Tetra Tech International Development Europe is Tetra Tech's European business unit focused on International Development. Job Overview and Reporting Line:

This Communications Officer role is an opportunity for a multi-disciplinary international development communications professional to learn and to rise to opportunities – to demonstrate what you can do while at the same time developing and learning new skills to fulfill our increasing demand for high quality communications.

You will join a small and flexible communications team in London that welcomes initiative and new ideas, especially during this time of company growth. We need an organised all-rounder who can manage a dynamic workload, balancing pre-planned schedules and deadlines with daily ad hoc requests.

Main Duties:

  • Project communications: Support and work with project teams with the creation and delivery of products that support their communications strategies, including helping with the storyboarding and commissioning of multimedia work and required resources (website development, photography and videography). Be a point of contact for project-based communications managers, providing them with support and guidance while gathering content from them for corporate use.
  • Digital communications & social media: Work with the Senior Communications Manager to plan, commission and produce website and social media content. You will become fluent with using the backend of our website to update and create new pages as needed using WordPress – prior knowledge is desirable but not essential.
  • Writing & Editing: Support the communications team and general staff to identify stories, develop and write materials (thought leadership, capability statements, case studies, blogs, competition entries) to promote our activities. You will copyedit and proofread material developed by staff to ensure consistency and compliance with brand, key messages and style guidelines.
  • Internal communications: Develop an Administrator-level command of the company intranet, supporting its use a communications forum. Supporting the development of content for corporate requests for information.

Aptitude and skills:

  • A nose for news – you'll have the ability to extract stories of impact and eye-catching results from technical documents and briefs, bringing our work and achievements alive for wider audiences.
  • Sound experience of working on communications campaigns and the ability to quickly familiarise yourself with the opportunities and risks associated with our work and our position in the global international development sector.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills – able to take technical copy and work with the original writer to make it come alive and appeal to the appropriate audiences.
  • A flair for visual communications – the ability to interpret topics visually, storyboard products and work with technical colleagues to create them.
  • An understanding of how to create data-led, strategically aligned and sustainable digital content and how to use the optimal digital channels that will drive engagement and trust in our brand.
  • Knowledge of the international development sector through private sector, NGO, government or academic experience.
  • A strong eye for detail, both in text and in visuals, as you will be one of the key guardians and advocates of our branding and identity.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have a proven track record of experience in a communications or international development role.
  • A Bachelor's degree in social sciences, English, journalism, international development, or other relevant subject.
  • Knowledge of the international development or iNGO sector is desirable but not essential.
