The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineering Services Lead to manage and oversee a variety of civil and energy-related projects. This role will be responsible for client communication, project management, staff supervision, and technical oversight of civil engineering designs.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil land development, stormwater management, and renewable energy projects. The position offers an opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams and support business development initiatives.

Your Role:
- Manage client communication, deliverables, and requests.
- Lead or support the development of proposals and cost estimating.
- Work with multi-discipline engineering, especially structural, geotechnical, and electrical engineers.
- Delegate engineering work and oversee the production of engineering plans and computations, from conceptual to construction level details.
- Support construction RFIs and field inspections as necessary.
- Subject matter expertise in Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, and Floodplain Management and grading is a plus.
- Subject matter expertise in renewable energy projects is a plus.
- Manage staff and engineering team workloads, supervise and mentor staff.
- Ability to bring in new and diverse engineering opportunities from external and internal clients is a plus.
- Licensed professional engineer in a state (East Coast preferred) with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other similar states.
- Experience in conducting and directing work with a multitude of civil land development projects and improvements, such as transportation, large dams, linear utilities, solar and battery storage, commercial and residential sites, industrial sites, floodplain management, and large culvert/bridge design.
- Work with project managers for delivery of a quality product within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Water Resources, Biological Systems, or Environmental Engineering-related major.
- Minimum of 10 years prior experience in engineering design for civil and/or energy-related projects.
- Professional Engineering Licenses in East Coast states is preferred.
- Expertise with renewable energy projects, linear design, and land development preferred.
- Experience leading the site plan and zoning approval processes at the municipal level, preferred.
- Experience leading the erosion and sediment control plan approval process for renewable projects through the county and state regulatory processes.
- Understanding of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management in construction and post-construction settings, hydrology and hydraulic analysis, and applicable rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (e.g., HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal water resources regulatory processes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Solid Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project) and other software tool skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well independently.
- Ability to work on several tasks at any given time, work well with a team, and mentor junior staff.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
