We are currently looking for a Bridge Culvert Engineer to join our Transportation practice in our Calgary, AB office. This position offers the opportunity to work with a team of experienced engineers, technologists, supported by our geotechnical and environmental specialists, to deliver highway and bridge construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Construction inspection of bridge and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Coordination with our other business units may be required for project delivery.
- Supporting and preparing engineering reports such as site assessments, design & drafting details, construction cost estimates and reporting.
- Provide technical support during construction of standard bridges and culverts.
- Provide technical support during the construction of major bridges as required, level of involvement will be dependent on the successful candidate's level of experience and qualifications.
- Coordinate and perform fabrication inspections for culvert materials and precast concrete girders.
- Coordinate and supervise junior staff, survey crews and material testing during construction activities.
- Preparation of prequalification, tender and contract documents.
- Perform construction and post-construction supervision.
- Other duties required to conduct our business and build on the job knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Civil Engineering or Civil Technology diploma from a certified program.
- Member in good standing with P.Tech.(Eng.)), P.ENG or (P.L.(Eng.)) designation.
- Previous experience design and delivering standard bridges and bridge size culverts in Alberta.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying, preference will be given to candidates with a clean driving record.
- Class A or B certification under Alberta Transportation's Bridge Inspection and Maintenance (BIM) system.
- ACI & PCI certifications, considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in engineering consulting for Alberta Transportation.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with design and/or construction management of roadway and bridge related infrastructure projects; however, consideration will be given to candidates with less experience.
- Previous experience completing fabrication inspections is an asset.
- The ability to read and review engineered drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to properly document and produce detailed information in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and listening skills.
- Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the Practice by being a team player.
- Must be willing to travel and work in a field setting away from the office.
- Be physically capable of performing duties required.
- Ability to work independently on project assignments.
- Ability to manage small project teams.
- Client management skills.
- Experience working with various public agencies including Municipalities, Alberta Transportation, City of Calgary, Parks Canada, etc.
