We are currently seeking Archaeological Technicians and Crew Chiefs (Part-Time) to join our team for various projects across the Midwest, Southwest, Intermountain West, and Pacific Northwest. These positions involve conducting archaeological fieldwork, including monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery under the supervision of Field Directors and/or Principal Investigators. The positions are part-time with potential for full-time employment for the right candidate.

 

Location: Midwest, Southwest, Intermountain West, and Pacific Northwest

 

Pay rate will range between $22 to $28 per hour and will be based on individual qualifications, experience, and assigned project role.

 

Your Role:

·         Perform all field tasks associated with archaeological site recording, post-field site form completion, and digital photography.

·         Assist with mapping cultural resources in the field, including the collection of GPS data using tablets, digital photography, and recording resources on appropriate state forms and Google Nexus tablets.

 

Qualifications:

For Both Positions:

·         Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology or a closely related field.

·         Completion of an archaeology field school.

·         Experience with large-scale cultural resource projects.

·         Proficiency in using GPS (Collector) units, Tablets, ArcGIS, and other computer-based programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

·         Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to complete cultural resource forms/documents in a timely manner.

·         Preparedness to travel in any of the western and Midwestern states for prolonged fieldwork.

·         Ability to conduct fieldwork carrying gear (25 lbs.+) up to 10 miles per day for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, remote locations, and rugged terrain.

·         Experience with the identification of a variety of prehistoric and historic resource types, flora, faunal, and human remains.

·         Self-motivated, respectful of others, positive, energetic, and able to work and participate in a team environment.

·         Current valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a 4wd vehicle on rugged, backcountry roads.

·         First Aid training.

·         Ability to pass a drug screening.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

For Archaeological Technicians:

·         1-3 years of experience in CRM or archaeological projects.

 

For Crew Chiefs:

·         MA in Anthropology or a closely related field is preferred.

·         3-5 years of experience in CRM and/or some supervisory experience on archaeological projects.

 

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary Range: $22.00 - $28.00 hourly.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
