Tetra Tech's Disaster Recovery Unit is now hiring for Archeological Monitors. Archeological Monitors will support Tetra Tech field projects based in Kendall County, Texas from the recent devastating Texas floods.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field with significant coursework in archaeology.
- Formal training in archaeological field methods, research, and site interpretation is typically required, often obtained through academic programs or field schools.
- At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archaeology, as per the Secretary of the Interior's Standards. This ensures familiarity with fieldwork techniques relevant to monitoring, such as site identification and recording.
- Practical experience in archaeological site monitoring, survey, or excavation is often preferred, particularly for projects under the Texas Historical Commission (THC) or federal regulations like Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
- Ability to identify and record archaeological sites and artifacts, as monitoring involves observing construction activities for potential cultural resources.
- Familiarity with Texas-specific archaeological contexts, including prehistoric and historic periods, and material culture.
- Knowledge of state and federal antiquities laws, such as the Antiquities Code of Texas and NHPA, to ensure compliance during monitoring activities.
- Proficiency in field recording techniques and, in some cases, basic use of computerized databases or GPS for site documentation.
- A minimum of Three years of field experience

Ability to work up to 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day, outdoors

Must have valid driver license and good driving record.
This position with Tetra Tech is temporary and on an "as needed" basis and will end. It is understood that your employment is to be on an "at will" basis.
