Overview
BlueWater Federal is looking for a highly skilled Kubernetes Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance to join our Infrastructure Team supporting the Department of Energy in Washington, DC.
As a Kubernetes Architect, you will administer and support Kubernetes clusters deployed on Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) within a SCIF environment, but relevant experience with OpenShift or other platforms are acceptable. The role will involve managing containerized enterprise applications, including BigID and Appian, ensuring secure and optimized operations within controlled facilities.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in a classified environment.
- Ensure security compliance with DOE and STIG requirements, maintaining strict adherence to security protocols.
- Troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes workloads for performance, scalability, and security.
- Implement automation and orchestration strategies for containerized applications.
- Support enterprise applications such as BigID and Appian within the secure facility.
- Monitor system health, proactively address potential issues, and ensure high availability.
- Collaborate with security, operations, and development teams to align system architecture with classified data protection needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation on Kubernetes best practices, security compliance, and system configurations.
Qualifications
- Must have an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Q and SCI clearance
- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters, preferably on OpenShift or Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP).
- Experience working in SCIF environments with strict security protocols.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes networking, storage, and security principles (RBAC, Pod Security Policies, etc.).
- Familiarity with enterprise applications like BigID and Appian in containerized deployments.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and scripting.
- Understanding of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Helm, Istio, or service mesh technologies.
- Knowledge of cloud-native security and compliance best practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and container orchestration tools.
