HCA Terre Haute Regional Hospital is a 278-bed full-service hospital accredited by The Join Commission and has provided quality care for the local community for 135 years. We also offer cardiovascular services, including open-heart and cardiac catheterization; oncology services, which include radiation therapy and outpatient infusion' labor and delivery, including a neonatal intensive care unit; inpatient mental health unit; and other specialized care areas, including intensive care and inpatient rehabilitation units.

 

                

The Registered Nurse in the Imaging Services Department has a dynamic and varied role.  The skills utilized in their job performance include nursing assessment, communication, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement.  The overall goal of the Radiology RN is to provide optimum patient care utilizing nursing process.  The nurse will assess, identify needs, plan, implement appropriate interventions, document, and evaluate outcome.

 

Position responsibilities:

  • Performs and directs nursing procedures, prescribed treatments, based on knowledge of principles and practice of Registered Nurse.
  • Administers conscious sedation for patients undergoing radiologic procedures.
  • Works closely with and assists physician during treatment and examination of patient and processes orders.  Assist other radiology staff in assessment, diagnosis, care planning, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Initiate and evaluate patient's screening test results and report.
  • Utilize multidisciplinary hand off communication about patient.
  • Document patient status and care provided during radiologic procedures.
  • Obtain consent orders and consent when appropriate.
  • Assists in patient procedural scheduling.
  • Cross train to Out Patient Surgery department and PACU if necessary.
  • Actively participates in the orientation of new personnel.
   

Qualifications

Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current Indiana State Board of Nursing RN licensure or RN compact state licensure.
  • Have a basic knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS and ISBH standards, rules and regulations.
  • Have a basic knowledge of “performance improvements” concepts and unit activities.
  • Certification: BLS, ACLS, PALS must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital
 

Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:

             Certified Radiology NurseRadiology Technology licensure
