Certified Nurse Midwife II - Akron White Pond Medical Center

Full-Time, Benefit Eligible

SCHEDULE: 2 x 8 Hour Days in Office and 1 Day of 24 Hours on call at the hospital

Summary:
Develops and advances the quality of advanced practice through specialized direct patient care of acute/non acute obstetrical/gynecological patients including intrapartum care and on call coverage, leadership, consultation, education and research. Works to improve processes of care for patients. Ensures quality of patient care by utilizing established standards of care for specified department and coordination of services with physicians, care managers, social workers, patient care coordinators, therapists and other community agencies as appropriate

Formal Education Required:
a. Masters Degree in Nursing with competition of Advanced Practice program in area of expertise and national certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife.

Experience & Training Required:
a. Current license to practice as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio.
b. Minimum one year experience as an advanced practice provider preferred.
c. BLS certification
d. NALS certification

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Excellent skills in communication, organizing, self-motivation, accuracy, and time management
b. Ability to read and interpret medical documents, which are commonly found in hospital, clinic or physician office environment
c. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
d. Ability to provide necessary care of obstetrical/gynecological patients as required by position and requested by institution including the intrapartum patient.
e. Ability to work independently, to prioritize work and solve problems.
f. Demonstrates competency in Microsoft office and all computer programs utilized by the Practice.
g. Ability to manage multiple projects.
h. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
i. Maintains affiliated hospital privileges as an Allied Health Professional if practicing in the hospital setting.
j. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
k. Demonstrates flexibility to meet the ever changing needs of patients and health care team members.
l. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of obstetrical/gynecological patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
b. Required exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substance, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
c. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
