Description

Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Incumbent will report to Dr. Sandeep Mallipattu and be responsible for the following:

  • Provide coverage for inpatient nephrology service.
  • Independently assess and evaluate new and follow up patients with kidney disease.
  • Perform physical exams and procedures.
  • Prescribe dialysis prescription.
  • Manage patients on dialysis and kidney transplantation.
  • Review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding laboratory findings for patients.
  • Work alongside nephrology faculty and trainees.
  • Follow-up with patients regarding laboratory and radiology tests by telephone or in person.
  • Rotate through established “call” schedule for Physician extenders as needed.
  • Assist in transition of care planning.
  • Demonstrate skills in collaboration, teamwork and problem solving to achieve goals.
  • Knowledge of basic software packages and hospital information systems (EMR).

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of experience practicing nephrology and/or inpatient medicine.
