Overview
The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking a full-time Therapeutic Activities Aide to join our dedicated Activities Division. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our Veterans and Members through engaging, community-supported programming.
This position will be responsible for setting up and leading a variety of recreational activities. These may include events such as fishing derbies, car shows, picnics, and other outings organized in collaboration with local service organizations. The Activities Aide will also assist with transporting and supporting residents during events, completing daily documentation, and contributing to progress reports.
This full-time position is scheduled from 8am to 4:30pm and includes working every other weekend and some holidays.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable.
Recreation and/or therapeutic duties at an aide level involving planning and administering an activities program for residents at the Vermont Veterans Home. Duties are performed under the direction of the Therapeutic Activity Supervisor and includes direct interaction with residents.
Environmental FactorsActivities are performed in an institutional setting involving elderly and/or disabled residents. Direct interaction with residents is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. The activity schedule may require evening and weekend duties. A valid motor vehicle operator's permit is required for the transport of residents to and from activity events. Good physical health is required for rendering physical assistance to and transporting and moving residents.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred QualificationsPast experience working in a nursing home, healthcare setting or with older adults.
Past experience facilitating therapeutic activities with groups of any age.
