Overview

Are you interested in supporting youth in transition?  Do you like working with multi-disciplinary teams? If so, the Developmental Disabilities Services Division (DDSD) has the job for you!  DDSD is seeking a motived go-getter to join our team as DDSD's Supported Employment and Post-Secondary Education Coordinator.

 

This statewide position provides technical support and program development work at a professional level involving planning and collaboration with DDSD's community partners. This incumbent provides program consulting, planning, coordinating, monitoring and management of resources for children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities and their families who are transitioning to developmental disability services for the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living.

 

This class requires extensive interaction with state agencies, community service providers, and other organizations.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in both a standard office setting and in the field for which private means of transportation should be available when state fleet vehicles are unavailable. Incumbents are subject to a variety of stressful situations while evaluating and improving support services for people with developmental disabilities. Occasional work outside of normal office hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in human services or special education field and two (2) or more years in the field of developmental disabilities or special education, with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience relevant to supported employment.
 
OR
 
Four (4) or more years in the field of developmental disabilities or special education with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience relevant to supported employment.
 

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in human services or special education
 

Special Requirements

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
