Position Overview:

The Agency of Digital Services is seeking a technologist with an application development focus to help support the Department of Labor's ability to provide exceptional user experience with the modernized unemployment insurance system. We are seeking candidates who can quickly learn new things as well as utilize the tools in-place to achieve success. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an environment where quick issue resolution is often required. Success in this position means you are a self-starter with a positive can-do attitude using good judgment while performing a variety of complex tasks.
While current modernization efforts are underway (through May 2026), this position is anticipated to be 100% on site in Montpelier. After this period, this position is part of a team that is currently 80/20 remote, meaning we are in the office 1 day per week. For in-office days, the position will be in Montpelier.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilization of ticketing and inventory systems
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues effectively
- Preparation of clear and accurate reports
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Skills:
- Proven experience with RBAC and user support
- Knowledge of cloud-native application development principles.
- Postgres SQL, SQL Programming, C# or other object-oriented programming languages
- A commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Who May ApplyThis position, IT Systems Developer III - Limited Service (Job Requisition #51990), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Work is performed in a standard office setting and there is considerable interaction with users and members of project teams requiring some tact and diplomacy to balance competing views. Work outside of regular work schedule can be anticipated.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science AND two (2) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
OR
Associate's degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND four (4) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
OR
Six (6) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.
