Overview

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill one Limited-Service Financial Administrator III position in our Grants Management Unit. This position will be responsible for the financial management of several grant programs. This may include the Recreational Boater Safety grant program, the Assistance to Firefighters grant program, the State Fire Training grant program, and other programs as assigned. This will include activities such as preparing grant applications, program financials, federal draws, execution of subgrant agreements, reviewing subrecipient reimbursements, and general grant compliance.


Ideal candidates will possess strong computer and Excel skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with our subgrantees and Federal Agency partners. Knowledge of the State's Peoplesoft VISION financial system is preferred, but not required. This position has the opportunity to work remotely.

This position, Financial Administrator III - Limited Service (Job Requisition #50386), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited-Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized through June 30, 2026. Limited-Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting AND one (1) year of accounting experience maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards

OR

Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years of professional experience in accounting, maintaining, reviewing, analyzing and accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards
OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in accounting involving maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing accounting or financial data and records to ensure compliance with accepted accounting practices and standards.

OR
Two (2) year as a Financial Administrator II with the State of Vermont.


NOTE: CPA certificate is considered qualifying.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system)may be required.

For some positions preference may be given to applicants with supervisory experience.
