Overview

Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II in the Operations and Maintenance Division in the Waterbury Complex. In this position, you will be working as an individual and as part of a diverse group that performs custodial duties in an office setting.

 

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with your choice of a 4:00am to 12:30pm shift or a 12:00pm to 8:30pm shift. Both of these shifts have a shift differential on top of the base pay. This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of multiple background checks.

 

BGS is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their mission. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required. 

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.

OR

One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.
 

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations. 

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
