Overview
The Vermont Department of Health Laboratory is looking for a highly motivated person to join our Information Systems support team to help with the technical support for our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and the Lab Web Portal (LWP).
Major job duties:
- Troubleshoot user issues, determine appropriate action for resolution and follow-through.
- Identify and provide training for LIMS and LWP users as needed.
- Assist in gathering and documenting requirements for new system functionality.
- Assist with user acceptance testing.
- Configure and/or run LIMS queries to respond to laboratory test data requests from laboratory or departmental staff, and other partners.
Job duties involve collaboration with Lab and VDH IT staff and contractors, as well as state and federal partners.
Candidate must:
- Have comprehensive analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Be able to balance competing demands, urgent matters, and confidential material in a professional manner
- Have a strong customer service focus
- Be proficient in basic MS Office applications

Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Health Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator and is fully in-person during training with a potential for teleworking 1-2 days per week after training has been completed.

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting. Private means of transportation should be available for required travel. The role involves intensive interaction with departmental staff to include officials who may advocate strongly for their programs. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with employees at varying degrees of system skill sets as well as varying levels of authority. Conflicting priorities and operational problems may be anticipated; competing priorities and tight deadlines are a frequent occurrence.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree AND two (2) years technical level experience working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
OR
Associates degree in business or computer science AND four (4) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
OR
Six (6) years experience at a technical level working in a business environment using an enterprise application system.
Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with knowledge of laboratory processes and health data systems experience.
