Overview

The Deparment of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking an Administrative Services Manager to oversee procurement of goods and services within the Department. This includes contract administration, and asset tracking/inventory. DPS is the largest free-standing department in Vermont State Government with locations and staff throughout the State which complicates procurement and asset/inventory management. 


Specific job duties include:

  • Supervises all Procurement Office staff within the Department
  • Oversees the Purchase Order (PO) and Contracting process for all of DPS 
  • Tracks and manages department requisition submissions of critical emergency equipment for Fire Safety, Vermont State Police and other assigned offices 
  • Ensures the Department's equipment inventory program on over 3,000 items runs efficiently
  • Annually manages over 100 active department contracts, from Request for Proposal postings through to contract closure
  • Accomplishes monthly contract insurance reviews
  • Records monthly metrics that include tracking contract types and processing times

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records, Personal History, Credit and any additional background check(s).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

OR

Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

OR

Associate's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND four (4) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

OR

High school diploma AND six (6) years or more of experience providing professional administrative-level services to a business or organization which included an accounting or budgeting function and experience as a supervisor of clerical or administrative staff.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Manager I with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
