The Opportunity
Our South Africa Change Delivery organisation is growing in line with business demand, and we seek a senior client-facing Business Analyst who can own the end-to-end requirements lifecycle on large LISP and Retirement platform implementations and enhancements.
This is a senior role: you will run client workshops, challenge and refine requirements, manage expectations and translate often ambiguous needs into crystal-clear specifications, manage senior stakeholders and expectations, and ensure our product and delivery teams can build the right thing, first time for both the client and the SA jurisdiction.
This position can be based in either Johannesburg or Cape Town, with the following ways of working below:
- Johannesburg: Hybrid, with 6 days per month expected in office or client sites, with the expectation that this will largely be dictated by the client.
- Cape Town: Hybrid with an expectation to be at the client site as often as feasible (minimum 1 day a week)
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate meetings & workshops and confidently present to internal and external stakeholders and build long-lasting, trusting relationships with colleagues (virtual and on-site).
- Elicit, challenge and document clear, unambiguous functional and non-functional requirements.
- Map end-to-end business processes across front, middle and back office.
- Identify gaps, conflicts and reuse opportunities in the broader solution landscape.
- Produce high-quality analysis artefacts (user stories, process flows, data models, use cases) consumable by technical teams.
- Actively manage client expectations and scope throughout the engagement.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture and Delivery teams as the voice of the client
- Mentor more junior BAs and contribute to the growth of our SA practice.
- Constantly champion change and motivate others to operate with a customer or outcome centric mindset.
Experience & Knowledge
We are looking for dynamic individuals who are self-starters, qualified and experienced within the Wealth & Investments industry within South Africa. The successful candidate will have solid knowledge of the South African wealth and investments industry, investment product rules, tax, and any applicable regulations with exposure to both exchange and non-exchange traded instruments.
Key experience
- 7–10+ years as a Business Analyst in South African Wealth Management / Retirement where they have developed a full appreciation for BA techniques and the various frameworks i.e. Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, etc.
- Deep knowledge of LISP/Wrap platform functionality and SA investment products.
- Solid understanding of Regulation 28, tax rules (TFSA, RA, living annuities, Section 14 transfers, etc.).
- Strong familiarity with FAIS, FICA, POPIA, TCF, tax rules and similar SA-relevant legislation and best practice
- Strong familiarity with as they relate to products and tax obligations of platform providers as far as administering investment products is concerned.
- Proven client-facing experience running requirements workshops and managing senior stakeholders.
- Experience breaking down complex requirements into well-written user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Proficient in Jira, Confluence, SharePoint and Visio or other process/flow tooling such as Miro.
- Relevant Bachelor's degree (Business, IT, Finance or similar).
- Offer personal agility when responding to change in business demands and lead the way for those more resistant to change.
Highly advantageous
- Exposure to stockbroking environments
- Knowledge of ASISA standards and JSE-listed instruments
- Formal BA certification (BCS, IIBA, CBAP, etc.)
- Front, middle, and/or back office operational process experience
- UX design understanding
