Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Associate – Real Estate Fund Accountant to join our Fund Accounting team. This role involves managing the accounting and financial reporting of private real estate investment funds. The ideal candidate will have a background in fund accounting, particularly within the real estate or private equity sector. This client-facing role involves working closely with fund managers, auditors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial and investor reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate funds in accordance with US GAAP/IFRS and fund-specific requirements.
Perform NAV (Net Asset Value) calculations, allocations, and reconciliations.
Maintain general ledger and sub-ledgers for real estate investment entities.
Reconcile bank accounts, investment transactions, and intercompany balances.
Support year-end audit processes, including preparing audit work papers and liaising with external auditors.
Assit in process capital calls, distributions, management fees, carried interest in accordance with LPAs and investor reporting statements
Assist in the preparation of audit packs and act as a key liaison with external auditors.
Coordinate with property managers, asset managers, and valuation teams for property-level financial data.
Track investment performance and prepare portfolio-level reporting.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and client-specific SLAs.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and automation projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CA preferred but not required).
2 to 4 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, preferably in real estate, private equity, or alternative investments.
Strong understanding of real estate fund structures (open-end, closed-end, REITs, joint ventures).
Proficient in accounting software (Yardi, Investran, Geneva, or similar) and MS Excel.
Solid knowledge of GAAP, fair value accounting, and fund reporting standards.
