Job Description

SS&C is the largest global investor service provider, servicing more than 55 million investors. Continually investing in global technology and services across the spectrum of distribution channels including: Asset Managers, Financial Advisors, Wealth Managers and large financial institutions such as Banks and Insurers. SS&C also services mutual fund structures in many other fund domiciles.

Global Investor and Distribution Solutions (GIDS) is the business unit offering this role. GIDS delivers global omni-channel investor servicing, contact centres and digital services.

About the Role

Within GIDS, we have specific clients that we service exclusively, and this particular role will be working directly with one of our client partners.

The client is a leading specialist in integrated investment management and fund solutions, based in Bolton.  

We are looking for a Fund Taxation Manager to work on a number of initiatives such as ensuring all taxation activities relating to funds are accounted for correctly in line with the NAV's.

An exciting aspect of the position will be collaborating with the wider SS&C network to enhance our current processes. The influence that you will be able to bring will help shape and define the tax offering service as we move towards planned future expansion into the UK market.

Your Responsibilities

  • Quarterly tax reviews – review the Funds tax positions that are calculated for the NAV.
  • Completion of relevant overseas tax forms for the Funds to enable treaty tax rates to be applied, most of these are reviewed and completed on an annual basis.
  • Assistance with furnishing custodians, depositaries and third parties such as brokers with any tax or legal documentation required to process the Funds taxation requirements.
  • Manage the relationship with the funds tax agents and liaise with the corresponding custodial overseas agent.
  • Review and chase outstanding WHT reclaims across all funds, reconcile positions at XD's between fund records and custodial reports.
  • Daily review of acquisitions of funds holdings in offshore funds between reporting and non-reporting funds and ensure that set up is correct for tax purposes.
  • Regular review, in conjunction with work carried out by other teams, of excess reportable income being declared and correct inclusion of such in the NAVs.
  • Assist internal stakeholders such as Pricing and Project teams with queries relating to Fund taxation such as WHT queries and Fund launches.
  • Assist with any HMRC enquiries, liaise with HMRC as required including filing of appeal letters.

Your Experience

  • Qualifications in tax (ATT, CTA, qualified or part qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Proven ability and a strong level of experience of working in all aspects of taxation.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Accurate data inputting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with complex queries.
  • Ability to prioritise & work to strict deadlines.
  • Highly level of MS Office suite skills and online capability
