Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team. As the Director of Engineering, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing engineering strategies, driving innovation, and optimizing manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire engineering function, ensuring seamless coordination between engineering teams, and collaborating with other departments to achieve organizational goals.

 Key Responsibilities:

 1. Engineering Leadership:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the manufacturing and product engineering teams, setting clear goals and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering professional growth, and enhancing technical expertise.
  • Manage Maintenance operations and team.

 2. Manufacturing Process Optimization:

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices, advanced technologies, and modern methodologies to optimize the manufacturing workflow.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce lead times, and increase overall productivity.

 3. Product Development Support:

  • Collaborate closely with product development teams to provide engineering insights and guidance during new product development projects.
  • Review design specifications, ensuring manufacturability, and make appropriate recommendations to optimize production processes.

 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, supply chain, and quality, to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to establish long-term engineering goals that align with the company's strategic vision.
  • Be an active participant in Open Book Management through the Great Game of Business.             

 5. Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.
  • Identify staffing needs, recruit top talent, and conduct performance evaluations to maintain a high-performing engineering team.
  • Create and manage capital expenditure plans ensuring on-time and on budget implementations while meeting expectations for ROI.

 6. Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that engineering activities comply with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Champion a culture of safety and risk mitigation within the engineering function and across the manufacturing facility.

 7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging manufacturing practices to stay at the forefront of engineering innovation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the engineering and manufacturing processes.

Eligibility:

As an employee-owner, you must have a teammate mentality and strong interpersonal skills. An employee-owner is proactive, upholds commitments and is continually learning.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field). A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience (typically 8+ years) in engineering leadership roles within the manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing manufacturing processes and implementing lean methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of product development, from design to production, with a focus on manufacturability.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in budget management, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a track record of driving innovation.
  • A commitment to promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
