We are seeking a Perspective Payment Systems Coordinator for Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital (HealthONE / HCA) to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. The Perspective Payment Systems Coordinator (PPS Coord) will be responsible for coordinating all patient information to be submitted to CMS for Medicare reimbursement and maximizing LOS efficiency in timely and accurate completion.  Coordinate and monitor CMS compliance. This individual provides clinical support in completion of data contained in the IRF-PAI to ensure accuracy in the scoring of functional status and reflection of the patient's care needs. In addition, this position assists in the ongoing monitoring of identified benchmarks for the inpatient rehab population. The PPS Coordinator will have access to confidential patient information and maintains confidentiality of all information.




What you will do in this role:

  • You will oversee and ensure the accuracy and completion o the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility – Patient Assessment Instrument (IFR-PAI) prior to electronic transmission within requires time frames
  • You will maintain a current knowledge of IRF-PAI software and provides expertise on this software within the inpatient rehab setting.
  • You will maintain updated and ongoing knowledge of the regulations concerning the IRF-PAI and its completion within the inpatient rehab setting
  • You will thoroughly research and review clinical documentation and makes recommendations to clinical supervisors in areas needing improvement to support and validate rehab criteria and documentation compliance
  • You will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to capture accurate assessment of patient, including interdisciplinary patient treatment plans to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes in collaboration with interdisciplinary team
  • You will verify appropriate CMG (case mix group) designation through chart review, staff interview, and collaboration with the rehab medical director
  • You will participate in ongoing education to the staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of the IRF-PAI
  • You will periodically audit IRF-PAI, clinical documentation and billing information to ensure accuracy and consistency of documentation.
  • You will closely and collaboratively with all members of the clinical team to ensure compliance at all levels
  • You will evaluate patterns of variances from standardized care plans and recommends strategies to resolve individual and caseload issues
  • You will serve as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care
  • You will promote participation, cooperation and teamwork. Demonstrates problem solving in resolving issues
  • You will participate in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities and seeks opportunities to improve department and inter-department processes
  • You will participate in internal chart review and external audit coordination as needed
  • You will assist with other rehab function as deemed necessary by Administrative Director

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license, or Physical Therapist.
  • Graduate from an accredited School with a BNS for nursing, or bachelor degree for physical therapy.
  • Prefer at least 2 years previous experience as a licensed clinician in an Inpatient Rehabilitation and a working knowledge of IRF-PAI & CARE Tool.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to compile, evaluate and report statistics to members of the team. 
  • Must have the ability to assess information, apply critical thinking processes to determine course of action, define expected outcomes and evaluated effectiveness of plan through continuous assessment of the patient's progress.
  • Must have strong analytical, leadership and organizational skills.
