Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, including FLSA, IRS guidelines, and DCAA/FAR compliance.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP or SAP.
  • Experience in the government contracting industry is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Costpoint & Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.



Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process, including preparation, processing, and reconciliation of payroll for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, as well as specific requirements for government contractors.
  • Supervise and mentor payroll staff, ensuring accurate and efficient performance. 
  • Maintain compliance with DCAA, FAR, and other regulatory requirements related to payroll in government contracting.
  • Handle payroll-related audits and provide necessary documentation and reports.
  • Administer payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual filings, and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Manage garnishments, levies and other payroll deductions
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure proper integration of payroll, benefits, and accounting systems.
  • Reconcile Benefit contributions and manage payment process semi-monthly
  • Reconcile and Process Timesheet Corrections
  • Reconcile and Process Leave Adjustments
  • Manage garnishments, tax levies, and other deductions in accordance with legal guidelines.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring employee satisfaction and accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll system updates and integrations to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Work with internal employees and resolving issues/concerns daily
  • Organization skills are critical – SPA is an extremely high volume fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently on tasks while delivering high-quality and accurate results or data.
  • Lead and mentor payroll team members to ensure high quality performance and professional growth
  • Identify and assist in areas for process improvement
  • Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Must maintain availability during critical deadlines and payroll processing, even within a flexible schedule, to ensure timely collaboration and task completion.
