The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

 

The Industry and Security Analysis Group (ISAG) within JOID provides analytical, technical, and program support to promote, grow, and protect the U.S. industrial base. ISAG's support spans the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Commerce, and other agencies to deliver critical decision support to national security leaders. Our team informs policy decisions, enables execution of comprehensive strategies and monitors and reports on the effectiveness of implementation. This enables senior leaders to execute strategies for developing and sustaining a robust industrial base that meets our nation's strategic resource objectives. From policy to practice, we are a team of economic and national security professionals providing innovative solutions for our Nation's most pressing security challenges.

 

SPA has an immediate need for a Business Intelligence Analyst to provide onsite support at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.


Responsibilities

The Business Intelligence Analyst will support the Global Investment and Economic Security mission to protect U.S. national security interests and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) equities from adversarial capital, foreign influence, and strategic risk exposure. The analyst will conduct Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI) and economic security due diligence assessments of risk associated with foreign investment, corporate ownership structures, and industrial base dependencies. Will conduct business intelligence, economic, and threat analysis to develop analytic products. Integrate subject matter expertise and market analysis, leveraging business intelligence tools to connect large diverse data sources from government, commercial, and open sources. Research and assess foreign companies' business operations and foreign investment activity that may present national security considerations for the Department of War, and collaborate across relevant offices within the Department.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, National Security, Intelligence, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience conducting economic security, financial analysis, business intelligence, counterintelligence, national security, defense industry, or risk analysis
  • Experience analyzing corporate structures, ownership, investment activity, or industrial base dynamics
  • Ability to research complex economic topics and develop on short notice concise, informative products for senior leaders
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, or Economics
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Specialist Certificate in Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified in Financial or Forensics (CFF)
  • Military Intelligence experience
